Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer care, and women’s and infants’ services. Respiratory team members provide treatment and therapy for infants and adults, perform innovative procedures (mechanical and noninvasive ventilation, nitric oxide delivery, arterial blood gas sampling, pulmonary function testing), administer patient-focused and therapist-driven order sets and serve as Rapid Response Team members responding swiftly to ""trigger"" symptoms without waiting for full-blown cardiac arrest. The Respiratory Department offers a clinical ladder program to recognize and reward therapists who strive for high quality patient care and demonstrate commitment to respiratory care.
Provides direct patient care activities related to respiratory care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation within the guidelines of the hospital and department. Can independently apply advanced clinical respiratory expertise and scientific knowledge including best practices serving as a resource to others as part of the patient care team. Ensures care provided is safe, effective, developmentally and age appropriate while complying with all quality and regulatory requirements as well as quality improvement initiatives.
