The newly renovated start of the art, open concept, 14 Bed Ventilator Unit within Polaris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Milford Wellness Village is seeking a Ventilator Program Nurse Manager (RN)… this is your chance to work with the leading provider of respiratory therapy, a respitatory owned and operated company providing management and clinical oversight to this program… the first and only of it's kind in Central Delaware.  Join us and make a difference!

Vent Program Nurse Manager (RN) is responsible for the daily operations of the vent unit and supervising the nursing personnel including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. The RT manger will also report to the vent unit nurse manager. The nurse manager/supervisor position is typically a managerial/administrative position but may require clinical responsibilities when the unit is short-staffed. Specifically, nurse manager job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Recognize and assist in solving clinical and administrative problems
  • Supervise care delivery systems to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Provide clinical expertise in medical, behavioral, and crisis management
  • Coordinate with the facility team to accomplish facility and patient-centered goals
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures
  • Communicate with residents and families to address care-related concerns
  • Monitor patient medications, treatment, and therapies for quality assurance and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

The nurse manager position requires RN credentials with a valid state license. Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Generally, candidates should be able to handle the physical demands of nursing (walking, bending, reaching, the ability to lift forty pounds, etc.), and have managerial and leadership skills. Specifically, candidates must have a strong understanding of skilled nursing standards of care and experience with higher acuity patients such as tracheostomy and ventilator patients. Exceptional analytic and clinical skills are must-haves, including the ability to assess residents’ conditions and needs quickly and accurately. Previous ventilator and/or tracheostomy experience preferred.

Caring for Our Respiratory Patients
On our 14 bed unit, our Pulmonary team will determine the resident’s capacity for Ventilator weaning and develop an individualized plan of care to reach appropriate goals. Our Ventilator unit is designed to care for patients requiring complex Respiratory services such as Ventilators, Bipap/Cpap, Trach, and Trach/Dialysis Treatments. We utilize a multidisciplinary team approach, and as a result experience far greater outcomes. Communicating our goals and treatment plan along with patient needs and concerns is our way of providing the best possible care to our Respiratory patients.
