The RN is a licensed professional who delivers patient-family-centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring the appropriate care for all age groups in the specific population of the unit. The RN demonstrates the following core competencies and behaviors: nursing process, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, flexibility, organizational skills, accountability and leadership.
The eICU RN uses high level critical thinking and surveillance of acute and critical care patients via remote technology across all Baptist Health hospitals, while integrating clinical and technical skills.
Minimum 18 months RN experience. Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN). RNs hired prior to 2/2012 are not required to have BSN to continue in their non-leadership role as an RN. RNs hired after 2/2012 with an Associates degree have 5 years to complete the BSN degree. Certification in area of practice and life support (BLS, NRP, PALS, ACLS) as per department standard. Required to work 4 shifts per month, 1 shift on the weekend and 1 holiday.
Five years ICU experience highly preferred. Certification in area of specialty highly preferred.
